snowmass cultural center

The project is a Community Purpose Building at the center of Snowmass Base Village.

Given the Buildings location at the center of a ski town,  this building must be a model for its in its energy efficiency strategies and savings.

The design team collaborating on Snowmass Base Village Building 6 includes Harry Teague Architects, East West Partners, R.A. Nelson, Studio InSite, TetraTech, Monroe and Newell,  BCER Group Engineering and the Town of Snowmass Village. The Snowmass Base Village Building 6 design team has explored numerous ways to improve the overall energy efficiency of the building and is driven to go beyond energy efficiency baselines and the benchmarks set up by our pursuit of LEED. Our goal is for the Community Purpose building  to represent a model for low carbon building in the valley

The qualitative goals of the project are to provide a healthy environment for the building occupants and visitors. The building is at the center of the plaza, a community social gathering place.  From high performance windows to sustainably sourced materials, our attention to every detail in design manifests itself as a high performing building.

Our whole building energy model estimates our annual electrical consumption at 950,000 actual year, 85.6 kbtu/sf*yr,  (ASHRAE 90.1 - 2010). With the energy savings measures we have outlined in our construction documents and priced with RA Nelson we estimate our consumption at 708,000 kbtu/yr savings, a 25% savings from ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2010.
