A 10,500 sq. ft. home located in Silverthorne, Colorado at the edge of a steeply sloping portion of the site. The house was intended to blend into a heavily forested area affording privacy but giving rooms a connection to the landscape. The ‘H’ shaped plan reinforces this connection to the landscape by creating ‘outdoor rooms’ amongst the building massing. The arrangement of the interior spaces needed to be such that the house felt comfortable for just two as well as large family gatherings. The materials both inside and out reinforce this connection through their intended warmth and color palate.
